Meet Sharon
Sharon Dawson, Clinical Psychologist

Sharon is a highly qualified Clinical Psychologist, with over 10 years clinical experience who is committed to evidence based practice and research. She attained First Class Honours for her undergraduate dissertation, which is now published in a peer reviewed journal, and was awarded the Australian Psychological Association prize for most outstanding Honours student of her year for her university. Sharon then completed two years full time study for her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, followed by two further years of intensive experience and training as a Clinical Psychology Registrar. At the conclusion of this 8-year period, she attained the qualification of Clinical Psychologist.
Only evidence-based therapies are used in the practice, and Sharon continues to undertake extensive additional clinical and professional development activities in order to ensure her practice reflects current research findings and to expand her expertise. Sharon is also qualified and experienced in providing Psychological Assessment reports for legal purposes, which is a particular interest of hers.
In her clinical practice, Sharon draws on her experience in both assessment and therapy with children and adults in clinical practice settings, including a private psychiatric clinic. She works in common areas of practice such as anxiety, depression, grief, stress, anger management, relationship difficulties, family conflict and childhood trauma, and self-esteem; as well as more complex illnesses such as Bipolar Affective Disorder, Substance Use Disorders, Eating Disorders and Personality Disorders.
She has life experience having lived, worked and travelled internationally for many years, and can relate well to clients from diverse backgrounds. Sharon also has extensive business experience and is a member of the Australian Institute of Executive Coaching. Sharon’s former career was as a Finance Executive for many large corporations, and she holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM). She has experienced corporate life at all levels, and understands how organisations work. This expertise is very useful when working with clients who are experiencing workplace and career difficulties.
Sharon is registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the peak professional body for psychologists in Australia, and a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
